McMillin, Loya, and White Performing Wednesday at DePauw
press release by Ronald Dye
Editor's Note: Next month, National Road Magazine will run features on both David McMillin and his band, Fort Frances, as well as an accompanying feature on local band Gus Moon in anticipation of their joint performance at the Hi-Fi in Indianapolis' Fountain Square District in late April.
On Wednesday, March 16 2016 Chicago based singer-songwriter David McMillin will return to Greencastle for a concert at the Inn at DePauw Social Center, where he will be joined by opening act Angela Norris White and special guest Issac Loya for an evening of original music beginning at 7:00pm.
McMillin is a 2006 graduate of DePauw who since graduation has toured extensively opening for such acts as Shelby Lynne, Martin Sexton, Matt Nathanson, Third Eye Blind, Sister Hazel and the Goo Goo Dolls, among others. David’s stirring original music has been described as folk rock and alternative country, and he was awarded the “Best Folk, Country or Americana” title by the Chicago Reader in 2008. More recently he was a 2014 finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition. McMillin currently tours as both a solo act and with his band Fort Frances.
Angela Norris White grew up in Bainbridge, Indiana and several other small towns in and around Putnam County. She began playing music in her family at a young age and has recently focused her attention on writing original songs. Angela regularly plays at different venues in central and southern Indiana and has recently completed recording a self-titled album of all original songs.
McMillin and White will be joined by special guest Issac Loya, a DePauw senior from McAllen, Texas who regularly performs on Wednesday nights at the Fluttering Duck.
In addition to the concert on Wednesday night, David McMillin will also give a craft talk on songwriting on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00pm in Watson Forum in the Eugene Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media (PCCM) on the DePauw campus. Both the craft talk Wednesday afternoon and the concert Wednesday night are free and open to the public.
